South Asian Heritage Month - HSBC UK

The South Asian Heritage Month commenced at the prestigious HSBC Headquarters, 1 Centenary Square, Birmingham on July 16, 2024, with a spectacular showcase of Bollywood and Bhangra dancers. The event was hosted by HSBC stakeholders Kabir Alam and Meha Bhindi and featured captivating performances by Ultimate Bhangra using Dhol and the Dance Beats Crew, showcasing various cultural dance styles. Jai Rai, Managing Director of GPS, conducted an interview for HSBC Radio which was broadcast during South Asian Heritage Month.


Nayan Singh, Chief of Staff of HBUK, delivered an inspiring speech about unity, celebration, and awareness. Keynote speakers Carol Taylor, Head of UK Diversity and Inclusion, and David Tomlinson, Head of International Coverage, shared valuable insights, with David Tomlinson discussing the newly launched International Desks and their support for colleagues and customers from South Asia and beyond. 

The event also featured an Indian market with offerings from Dishoom Restaurant, a Rangoli exhibit and Cake Ladoo sales. Notably, the event drew over 300 colleagues and raised over £900.00 for HSBC's dedicated charity, Shelter, through the sale of Samosas.



And not forgetting the ‘Turban Trying’ exhibition …


The audience was treated to an interactive Bhangra session by Ultimate Bhangra and mesmerizing performances of Dandiya, Garba and Bollywood dance routines by Dance Beats Crew.

The photos were thoughtfully integrated into the main post communications, which were widely shared across HSBC's internal platform, reaching over one hundred thousand colleagues globally and also featured in various newsletters.

Additionally, the HSBC Headquarters building was beautifully illuminated in purple and yellow throughout the night following the event.
